Social Media Volunteer

Waves of Wellness (WOW) Foundation is on the hunt for a social media/marketing/PR volunteer to assist the communications team with digital media engagement, content and marketing strategies.

You will have excellent communication skills, the confidence to bring new ideas to the table, a love for social media and a passion for helping raise awareness for a charity organisation. You have the drive and ambition to help create powerful marketing content that helps highlight the work that we do. A passion for the ocean and mental health is desired. Photography/graphic design skills are a huge bonus, but not required.

As a volunteer you will be able to work remotely with flexible hours while building up your digital media portfolio and gaining invaluable insights into the non-profit and media sectors at once.

The volunteer role is for a minimum of 3 months, for approx. 8-16 hours per week. Work is currently remote, with the ability to come into WOW’s HQ office in Sydney’s CBD from time to time. All volunteers are required to provide their own computer for use. This volunteer position is unpaid and at the end of it, we expect you’ll receive a stellar reference.

Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorming of new ideas for blog content

  • Drafting social media posts for Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook

  • Creation of short videos (15-30 seconds) for TikTok using WOW footage

  • Creation of blog content as briefed by the WOW team

  • Video/photo editing assistance where required

  • Brainstorming of marketing ideas for fundraising campaigns

  • Social media engagement and account monitoring (communicating with audience on behalf of WOW team)

  • Assist the Communications and Partnerships team as required

About You

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Organised and structured, with good attention to detail

  • Confidence to bring new ideas to the table

  • A passion for mental health, a love for the ocean and/or surfing is welcome

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the partnerships team and communicate with various stakeholders

Desired Experience:

  • Experience in social media/marketing/content creation

  • Experience working or volunteering for a non-profit

  • Photography, Graphic Design and/or video editing skills are a huge plus but not required
